like The Beatles etc.

Merry Xmas everybody

That minute Vietnam took
to score the goal against Singapore
was probably the worst minute of my life in years.
The agony of it all...
What a heartbreak.
In front of a full capacity crowd,
our national team fell prey to the Vietnamese.

However, as huge as the loss was,
i dun think hooliganism was necessary.
There was a big crowd and commotion at
the East Entrance when we were leaving.
Didnt really bother what it was about.
Then, at the overhead bridge,
i saw what looked like a person on the ground,
with ppl attending to his supposed injuries.

Then only just now i read at RedSports,
what happened a the East Entrance was that
Vietnamese supporters were being beaten up
by Singaporean sore losers;
their flags taken away from them,
burnt as if it was a heroic display.

At the bridge was probably a bloodied
Vietnamese already beaten up.

Its really not a good thing for this to happen.
Its really got nothing to do with
passion for football nor nation.
(Shout vulgarities can alr rite?)
No need to go injuring others.

Sorry to all the Vietnamese ppl who got involved k?
:D:D:D

computers, hard rock

Computers are such troublesome stuff.

I have lotsa games i wanna play rite now.
Initially, i didnt have enough space on my desktop,
now i have a shit load of space.
160 GB to be exact.
Yet i realise my graphics card is faulty
so now my com cant support most games.

Configuring my CPU by myself was a cool thing
especially with me communicating with Seroyen
on the webcam and mic over MSN,
him giving me instructions on what to do.
Felt like some complicated mission or sth.
Maybe i should have worked these holidays.
Then i'd have enough money to buy me
Total 90/Mercurial Vapor/Predator
and a new Graphics Card.

In other news, ive been dreaming of ridiculous stuff
for the past few days,
in contrast to the realistic ones i've been having.
Good thing. I dun wanna be growing up too fast.
Ridiculous dreams are always fun.
Except for the parts you start randomly falling down.

Been listening to music from the 70's and 80's.
An era where Hard Rock and Heavy Metal ruled.
Watching School of Rock introduced me to some
very catchy tunes and guitar riffs;
those that you've heard b4 but nvr really acknowledged.

In order of appearance (or wadever):-
Iron Man - Black Sabbath
Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple
Highway to Hell - AC/DC

the piano/keyboard onwards i dunno alr.

And here's their finale song.

Totally makes me wanna be a part of a band.
Sadly playing music instruments isn't really my forte.
Give me a ball, i'll juggle it for you.

Expect a music-based post coming soon.

(not so soon)

Would have loved to see Singapore win
the game just now but we'll all
have to make do with a goalless draw.
Hopefully things will be much better on Sunday
over here in Singapore.

Redsports had live reports while the game was on,
and the guest pundit was Aleksandar Duric who
is currently injured and nt able to play for SG.
Had a rather interesting time chatting with him
and other Singapore supporters.

He claimed that he switched his channel from ESPN
to Channel 5, and then Singapore had a goal (which
was eventually disallowed due to offside).
So he went on to switch back from 5 to ESPN
to see whether Singapore would get another goal.
He added a "lol" behind.

Seems like a cool guy to me.
For a 38 year old guy like him.
Thn again, who am i to decide who gets to be savvy..

A day ago i read Singapore has slight chance
of being hit by tsunami.
Apparently, chances are really very low.
Alarmed me abit since i live at the extreme south.
Thinking again, i guess im protected by the huge
chunk of land protecting my house,
that is Mt Faber.

In other news,
a tree on Mt Faber fell today
and it now blocks my view of the beautiful,
gigantic lighted Xmas tree Mt Faber has on it.
It is reportedly the durian tree,
so that yellow cab driver uncle has no
durian to go hunting for anymore.

What a long week..
With common tests over,
i'm finally able to spend time with my
one and only love,
Football..
And besides that i can also go back to GESS
to see see look look NCC training :D

"Section 1 ready?! Section 1 charge!!!!"

"ENEMY CONTACTED! EVERYONE GET TO
YOUR POSITIONS!!!"

"Help!!! SOMEBODY HELP ME!!"

Are just some phrases im gonna be hearing
over and over again.
Gotta love Mock Attack..

Oh but before i resume playing soccer
i needa get my secret love affair with Ventolin
over and done with..

Oh Ventolin, i need you so much,
but i have to move on now..

On a completely unrelated note,
I do NOT think Singapore will win the cup this year.
Thailand's WAYY too strong.
So Lions, prove me wrong baby..

Lotsa things to do in this 3 week break actually..
ROP remains main priority.

duty calls;
time to return to the alma mater.

K, i totally regret not watching
Everton vs Aston Villa
yesterday,
which ended up to be a 5 goal thriller.
Sidwell opened the accounts for Villa in the 34th second -.-
with a scorcher of a goal,
thn when it was 2 - 1 in injury time, Lescott seemed to
save a point for Everton with a bicycle kick equaliser.
And then AGAIN, in injury time,
Ashley Young won the game for Villa.

omgomgomgomgomg

Like the perfect match jigehzz...
On the bright side, Singapore are through
to semi finals of Suzuki (ASEAN) Cup! ^^

Anyway, we're back to the day when lamb's
get slaughtered again;
that's right, Hari Raya Haji.
I'm not badmouthing the event, really,
cuz the slaughtering holds much religious significance.
Something that i myself dun quite understand,
but thats just because im dumb and ignorant..

EDIT: it seems like my attempt to calefare
yesterday at my mosque failed.
Ppl from the Malay news at 8 were there
taking shots and it seems like they didnt show
the one with a particular boy in purple walking
past and sneezing.

It seems as though every Hari Raya i feel like shit
cuz i start to reflect on what ive done in my life
as a Muslim so far.
Well, almost nothing.
Certainly hope i'll get there one day.

Cant really enjoy Hari Raya today
since Common Tests start tmr.
Man, they've really been a hindrance
for the festive season.
Thn again, its just Common Test.
(but why do i feel so worried?)
Papers til Thursday, cant possibly look forward
to that can I?

Alright, i'll be wasting my day away now thn..

Last night i had a nocturnal emission leg cramp.
Which was needless to say, f***ing painful.
I didnt even tire myself out for the past few days,
been drinking lots of water since i have a sore throat,
plus i eat bananas everyday.
And yet i still get leg cramps.
TWICE.

Cramped, woke up, slept, cramped.
Each lasted 30 seconds?

Im just glad it was a cramp
instead of those weird phenomena
whereby u wake up and cant move,
and u see some black figures in front of ur face,
looking at you.

Been reading up on different types of ghosts
and watching scary vids.
Hope this doesnt get to me anytime during my sleep.

YouTube101:-

- Always check the ratings of the video
1 or 2 stars probably mean its a screamer, or just plain stupid.

- If ratings are disabled, read the comments.
If u start seeing insults to the uploaders grandparents,
it means its a screamer, or just plain stupid.

- If u still wanna see it, make damn sure
you turn down ur volume.

Just making sure none of you end up like
the poor kid over here.
Although it probably already has happened to you.

So this morning i decided i was too sick
to go to school.
Going to chalet means that i would be eating
oily bbq food and drinking truckloads of gassy drinks.
And that was what i exactly did in the weekend
Apparently, whenever i do so, i fall sick.

Yes, i have become that weak.
;_;

Laying in bed all day, i had a long reminiscence
on secondary school life,
especially the 2D moments,
since an additional 2 ppl from 2D
have departed for overseas studies,
making it a total of 5.

I was random enuff to realise that 2D has the letter "D",
which stands for "Departure",
explaining the set of events that took place
over the past year.
Thn again, i was just being random.

Back to recalling the past,
some questions sort of occurred to me.
Why did those school days seem so free,
When actually Poly has a more flexible timetable..
Damn it, why?

Got Common Tests next week.
I dun think i'll be able to squeeze through this time round.
But in order to get a slight dose of optimism,
i quote Mun Wah's PM and a rather widely used quote
in secondary school,

"Common Test only.."

Good news is, Man Utd won, and Chelsea lost..

Paul Twohill

Today i played soccer with Paul Twohill.
I scored a goal against his team.

I also whacked the ball which hit his face
causing all his teeth to drop.
Just kidding.

Well, his appearance at the court was rather random.
Considering he was in skinny jeans and all.
But hey, he have me something to blog about.

I realised something from the past few weeks
or possibly months.
My dreams kind of make sense now.
Did i blog about this already?
Sometimes they STILL dont make sense
but right now, what i dream about is
very relevant to the problems/issues/difficulties/doubts
that i'm facing.
They could also be about positive things though.
It catches my attention so much
since i usually dream about pointless stuff.

I'm currently addicted to this song.
SUPER catchy..

I love the mountains,
i love the clear blue skies,
i love big bridges,
i love when great whites fly..

I love the whole world,
and all its sights and sounds,
Boom De Yada Boom De Yada Boom De Yada Boom De Yada

I love the ocean,
i love real dirty things,
i love to go fast,
i love Egyptian kings..

I love the whole world,
and all its craziness,
Boom De Yada Boom De Yada Boom De Yada Boom De Yada

I love tornadoes,
i love arachnids,
i love hot magma,
i love the giant squids..

I love the whole world,
it's such a brilliant place,
Boom De Yada Boom De Yada Boom De Yada Boom De Yada

Really reminds you how beautiful the world is.
Also reminds you how we're destroying it..

YES WE CAN - Obama wins

Seriously ah,
Obama REALLY knows to to speak well.
I hvnt rly been following the US presidential elections
THAT much.
But all the way over here in Singapore,
i watch his acceptance speech on the internet,
and i can FEEL the impact of Obama's words.
Probably one of the best black speakers
after Martin Luther King, Jr.
Malcolm X,
Mohamed Ali,
and Samuel L Jackson.
(i kid on the last part)

"That's it! I've had enough of these motherfuckin snakes,
on these motherfuckin plane!"
- Samuel L Jackson, in Snakes in a Plane.

come on, this quote deserves some praise..

But anyway, here's Obama's acceptance speech.
Damn nice la ;_;

I couldnt embed the more inspiring version.
The one with better camera angles and footage.
But its HERE. (scroll down)

I think like 10 out of 10 young adults like us
in Singapore have been rooting for Obama..

I also dunno why.
Its as if it came naturally.

Hopefully he will be THE man in history
to CHANGE America.
And as everybody knows,
changing America = changing the world.
(but dun ask me why)

Im really dumb when it comes to politics.
(thn again im dumb at almost anything)

But i really hope Obama will do a great job.

For change that we need..
Change that we can believe in..

YES WE CAN.

(this tagline of his may end up being as famous
as "I have a dream")

oh, and those who were wondering wad the NATO
in my PM means,
its No Action, Talk Only.
My friend taught me that today.

NP@45 Party was super cool.
The emcee for the beginning part, one of em
was the botak head emcee we had
for our Grad Night last year (GESS).

Speaking of Grad Night, seems like this year's
will be at the same place too.
Not dat it matters us.

K so other thn the party being uber cool and all,
today i had Indonesian Grilled Chicken Rice
which was super duper awesome.
And i realise i tend to overrate or exaggerate
things these days.

Yozakura Quartet has this sister,

who wields two swords..

who slices cars thrown at her in half,

and is uber cool.

Meanwhile in Ga Rei Zero...

2 girls are fighting for the last stick of Pocky.
What could possibly go wrong?

killsteal

agreed..

but not accepted!.

hmmm....

here we go~~

No its not okay..^^

inevitable..

yes you perverts. dont look

But hold on, we're not quite done yet..

there you go!~

I experienced yet another unpleasant
experience at Bukit Merah NTUC.
I demand to know why i needed to queue for
20 minutes (NOT exaggerating)
in order to buy just one carton of choc milk.

Other than that, i have nth else to say.
Except for the fact dat i just had a major system overload,
after drinking choc milk,
thn eating a banana and hot dog with chilli sauce.

Ok so today i went swimming at Yongli's house.
A pretty cool pool btw.
We went on to play an intensively modified
game of water polo,
pioneered by the likes of JUUgene, YongJUU,
IgnaJUU and JUUshua.
I think i rather call it water rugby.

And so dat was fun and all,
but other stuff happened.
FOR EXAMPLE.

A boy came to walk by the pool with a basketball.
He was just walking by to get to somewhere else,
care freely bouncing his bball just by the pool.
For some reason his ball dropped into the pool.

He cried (and we laughed).
Felt bad for laughing but IgnaJUU helped retrieve his ball,
and was not rewarded with a "thank you".
But its okay.
We had a fair share of laughter.
You see the funny thing was dat he did not call
for any sort of help.
Instead, he just stood there, looking at his ball,
and crying.
But seriously i felt bad for him.
(HAHA).

An even funnier example would be the story
of ANOTHER boy.

He was riding a bike by the pool.
I saw him looking at us playing with a fountain,
and he was trying to figure out wad we were trying to do.
He found it rather amusing and laughed abit.
Then i looked away.
There wasnt even a big splash.
There was only Sufi laughing hysterically,
pointing at one direction.

There, just behind us, was a soaking wet boy,
and a bicycle in the pool.
A freaking bicycle in a pool.
How often do you see dat.

We laughed; alot.
But we also went on to help him.
This boy didnt cry though.

I swear Yongli lives with weird people.
People who randomly drop things
or ride their bikes into a pool.

Yea so dats pretty much it.
Earlier on i was watching Tales of the Abyss.

Hmm..

Oh no...

With a girl like Tear following him around,
I dont blame Luke.

Chalet

I gotta say, first week of this new semester,
really sucked.
It felt soo long.

Thank god there was chalet.
And thank goodness fever didnt really hold me back
from having fun with the rest.

I only missed the swimming
and a lil bit of ghost stories.
I really wanted to swim though.

But as for the ghost stories,
i woke up to experience the better half.
It was interesting to have someone knocking
DAMN hard on your door in the middle
of morning, when ur in the middle
of telling many different spooky tales.

I saw everyone's true colours man.
Survival instinct took over.
People pushed people to get to safety (bed) first.
It was an amusing moment for a sick person
stuck to the bed and pillow,
passively watching what went on.

I really really think we had most fun singing (shouting)
along to songs we knew.
Especially Blink 182 la.
Never realised that their songs kicked ass.

So the chalet was pretty dandy.
I'll tell u wad else is dandy.
That new channel called Okto.

Cool new shows man.
Especially those after 7pm.
I dunno, maybe its cool cuz i dun have Nick, Disney
and wadever stuff kids watch nowadays.
But TV just got more interesting.

Oh yea i just realised an interesting fact.
First semester, first weekend of school, i was sick.
This semester, first weekend of school,
i am sick again.

Cool huh.

Monday, October 13, 2008

Its been a few days since
Hari Raya celebrations started.
Its been pretty normal.
Ppl visit your house,
thn you visit theirs.

I lost the drive to go visiting alr actually.
Maybe this is wad u call coming of age.
The green packets just dont seem as appealing
as they used to be.
At least i get to see my relatives though.
To be honest, im not close to either
of my father's side or my mother's side.
Kinda isolated.

So what else has been happening?
Today was the first day of the new semester.
And after 2 months of holidays,
boy did i want to just sleep the day away.
Still went to school though,
and experienced a rather boring day.

It was saddening to realise that
Desmond and Shaun are gonna be in a diff class
for most of our modules.
Really saddening.
I was really starting to like you guys ;_;

But anyway, we got a few new classmates.
I dunno anything about them yet,
but hopefully we can all get along.

I think my timetable sucks.
It looked pretty good the first time i saw it.
But it didnt take me long to realise that
i only got earlier releases
on the days in which i had futsal trainings.

And on the days in which i dont have any trainings,
i end up being dismissed later.

On alternate weeks, i have a pointless
3 hour break in between lessons.

Super start to a super semester.

Well at least i found something good to do in school.
Ive been watching documentaries.
I watched today and during the holidays,
in the library.
They've got Discovery, History,
and National Geographic there.
Its also actually a great spot to see chicks walking by.

Sometimes u dont get shows that are too entertaining.
Like architecture (no offence to Haziq).
I slept through that one.
But still, its a better thing to do,
rather than slacking at some random spot.

And we also get to be under the same
Maths teacher.
He's probably the best Maths teacher ive ever had.
Counting on him to keep me awake and interested.

And with this post, i'd like to announce
that im making a pledge to not be online so often anymore.
Hopefully i'll see to it properly that i finish
my homework,
and revise for all my modules regularly.
I also want to sleep early everyday.

And my weekends will be spent training
for futsal and football tournaments coming up.

Its hard to get hyped up for training
but i do so by watching videos like this

for the rest of you non football enthusiasts,
watch this alarming message on the dangers
of the Large Hadron Collider project
thats taking place rite now in Europe.

Anti matter is serious stuff...

So the world's first ever F1 night race came and gone.
And boy was it entertaining.
Might have stared a new interest in F1 for me.
Like the commentators said, it was
"thoroughly eventful".

Note: I really like Lewis Hamilton's car.
The gray makes it look metallic.

I feel very lucky that i did not challenge or bet with
any1 on who would have been the lucky winner of the race.
Because i couldnt have been more wrong.

Ive never been more wrong since i tot
the Vietnam War ended in 1990.

Because i tot for sure, Felipe Massa would have won,
and Fernando Alonso had no chance of winning.
I mean look at the odds.

Alonso had his car breakdown twice in qualification.
He had to start in 15th position.
He hasnt won all year.

Massa on the other hand, cruised through qualification.
And started in 1st position.
He is second in the drivers' championships.

A twist of fate came in the form of an early crash,
and an incident at the pit stop.

im sure most ppl watched
so no explanation needed here.
(basically he just took off from his pit stop
with the fuel hose still attached to the car)

Nice race.
Very entertaining. That's all i can say.
You know what else is entertaining?

The Amazing Race.

It used to be my favourite-no-miss kind of show
up til season 3 cuz by then i lost the drive
to continue watching.

But now, season 13, i'm making it a point
not to miss any episodes.

My friends and i were so crazy about it last time,
we played our own versions of it.
Be it in the primary school, HDB block
or even Mount Faber.

Just ask Yi Fan.

Theres just something about The Amazing Race
that makes it so great to watch.
After all, its been winning Emmys for like
90 years in a row now.
(exaggerated)

The winner is probably one Wiki search away.
(I think it is rite?)
(Actually it is not)
(I mistook this season for season 9)
But please, i wanna enjoy watching this on TV.
So whoever comes up to me and tells me who wins,
you're the worst kind of human there is.

Saturday Night Live

Live From New York;
Its

SATURDAY NIGHT!!!!!..

Sarah Palin here is played by Tina Fey,
who won best actress for a comedy series
in the recent Emmy Awards.
The series is her very own 30 Rock.

And the winner for best actor in a comedy series
was Alec Baldwin, also from 30 Rock.

Not surprisingly, 30 Rock won best comedy series.
So imma watch it sooner or later.

This year's Emmy's had its interesting moments,
though at some times u feel as if it wasnt Emmy material.
They did start with a surprise though.
This time round they stripped down Heidi Klum
from a business suit to a.. well..
more revealing suit.
Still, i dont think this was well receieved by the audience.
Well, some say the 5 hosts for this year's show
were the worst ever.

I prefer last year when Ryan Seacrest hosted it alone.
And when Stewie and Brian appeared.

But i also kinda liked Josh Groban's performance this year.
Especially the Southpark part.

many more entertaining stuff.
so if you want, youtube away...

my first GPA

I woke up to a pleasant surprise today.
A couple of B+, 1 B, 1 C, and an AD
gave me a GPA score of 3.16
Absolutely delighted since i convinced myself
that i was gonna get 2.5 or below the night before.

This is in accordance to my way of life, called,
"Aim Low"

You aim low, so when you perform above expectations,
you're extremely delighted.
Yet when you don't, you dun feel all too sad.
Why? Cuz u aimed low.

yea. This mentality got me through my whole sec school life.
Kids, there's a life skill for you.

Just kidding.

Well anyway, i dont usually do this,
and neither do i get to do this very often,
but,

F#$% YEAH!!

DISTINCTION BABY.

YOU FEEL ME?

YOU FEEL ME?!?!?

okay.
sorry about that.
yea dat AD means i got a distinction for one of my modules.
which is called ECPRO.
Engineering: A Creative Profession.
Remember when i posted about building that
mini robotic car and stuff like dat?

(If you dont, click here.)

yea, this module.
It owns.

Though i do feel i cud have pushed for an A
for Computer Programming.
But seriously, 3.16 is more than i cud wish for.

Did anybody see the moon anytime last night
or even tonight?
I probably nvr seen a bigger rounder moon
thn what i saw at 8pm just now.
at 9pm it got higher in the sky
and further from Earth
(assumption)
so it looked smaller already.

But seriously, it was so mystical,
it almost had a haunting presence.
Its like one huge eye looking down at you.

No, not you Sauron.
Go away.

Does this happen every mid Autumn festival?
Cuz this is the first time i've noticed it.
Oops, look at the time.
Gotta catch heroes.

Marcus called in from Shibuya just now.
Life sounds so great in Japan.
Definitely going there at some point of my life.

So as to explain the lack of entries in recent days,
again, its a combination of laziness and nothingness to post.

Sleeping time is now 3am - 4am.
And i wake up to eat at 5am (for fasting purposes).
I watch Oprah which is an awesome show btw,
til 6am.
Thn after some time stoning,
i go back to sleep and wake up at around 3 - 4pm.

Its actually a good strategy cuz i can shave off
like 8 hours of fasting.
I just have to wake up at 3pm or so,
and tahan the hunger for a while, till its 7pm.

But ur discouraged to act all lazy when ur fasting actually.

Its also been more anime for me.
It felt like i waited a damn long time for ep 22
of Macross Frontier to be released.
But well, it didnt disappoint.

Seriously, thank you Macross Frontier
for redefining anime music and soundtrack.
Your music is just f#$% awesome.

Here's Sheryl Nome's Northern Cross for you

Korean music's actually nice too.
Been listening to their hip-hop and r&b.

Epik High mashes electronica with rap very well.
The girl's not part of their group btw.
That's Younha, whos probably my fav female singer
at the moment.

btw, this song is her singing in Japanese, not Korean.

or maybe you'd prefer Big Bang.

yea, they've got more of the pretty-boy appeal.
They're still hip hop oriented though.

I realise I listen to so much songs from the west,
I dun really pay attention to local or at least
regional music.
Tmr i'm trying to find Chinese rock bands.
A rarity indeed.
Seriously all i hear from Chinese artists are slow love songs.
Or at least those are the ones that get popular.
Or maybe im just ignorant.
Prove me wrong CHINESE PEOPLE!!!!!

See You Next Deculture

I sense an unsurprisingly boring holidays ahead.
Nth to do nth to do nth to do nth to do...

The only thing ive been up to is watching anime.
One Piece that is.
200+ more episodes to catch up with.
Kind of the perfect anime to be watching rite now.

Came across this scene just now.

super hilarious considering he's actually
a straightforward and serious character.
Well, maybe not that serious.
Still it was the best laugh of the day.

Also been watching Macross Frontier.
Which is probably the best series im following rite now.
I nvr want it to end ;_;
It mixes action with music so well,
i feel nth before or after it can match its style.
Not to mention its superior graphics and animation.

Its basically about humans whereby in the future
we leave Earth in colonies
to find new places to settle down at.
Macross Frontier colony though, clashes with the
Vajra alien race in the middle of the universe
and is in the midst of war.

Still, a love triangle takes place between
the 3 main characters. (2 girls 1 guy).

Both girls are phenomenal singers.

I would really pay to go for a Sheryl Nome live concert.
Though some would prefer Ranka Lee.

one of Sheryl's performances early into the series.
notice how they coincide the concert with the battle.
Btw, Jap songs dun really have nice English translations.
For some reason.

and Ranka Lee's surprise first live concert.
And here they took the concert to the battle itself.
Ranka's a more light hearted singer as compared
to the soulful Sheryl.
But the second song is the emotional special one.

Singing is a big theme for the story
cuz apparently Ranka's song has
a special ability to tame the
enemy Vajras (the things they're fighting in the earlier vid)
and her song is used as a "weapon" for the
survival of the human race,
though all she wants to do is to sing for Alto (main character)

Sheryl seemingly has similar abilities,
though its not been revealed to what extent.

Yea they both like Alto
and since pink haired girls prove to be "moe" for me,
i support Sheryl!!

And here's their duet in the OP.
The video can be an eyesore

I think Ranka's voice suits this song better

Highly recommended to all anime watchers
who have not embraced this series yet.

Year in year out,
PM Lee gives an entertaining National Day Rally.
He sure knows how to engage his audience.

Ive been watching Britain's Got Talent
on YouTube.
Found 2 very entertaining ones.
Face it, if you can please both Piers and Simon,
you've got STYLE...

Alternatively you can go to YouTube itself
to watch in HD.

I think the rain effect was a killer.
Yea im also currently addicted to the music he was using.
Both actually.

Hooray for Silver in Beijing!
And congrats to Phelpls

0.01 seconds

0.08 seconds was close enough.
0.01, well, Phelps is just amazing,
winning the 100m butterfly in such fashion.
That runner up guy now has something that
will haunt him for the rest of his life.
Well, but sports always needs drama.

Somehow, i still think his win in the 4x100 freestyle
was more dramatic.
Team effort you see.

He now only needs 1 more medal to set a new record
of 8 career Olympic gold medals.

All seven of his previous Golds came with records.
6 WR, 1 OR.

Tmr is his final race.
So everyone prepare.

Anyway, its become a pretty well knowned fact
that swimmers are swimming much faster now
due to the new types of swimsuits they wear.
Seeing, how sports apparel has developed,
technology has come to play a significant part in sports.
I mean, just look at football boots nowadays.

Total 90 T-Laser,
Mercurial Vapor IV

theres always no telling wads coming up next.

But theres one more thing that's making swimmers
clock faster timings.
They are now allowed to use the butterfly kick underwater,
after they have touched the wall,
regardless of the event.
Apparently, it helps alot.

And did anybody watch the 100m sprint finals?
Usain Bolt, new WR of 9.68.
And guess wad.
I think the last 10 metres he was alr looking at the crowd
and celebrating.
While all the others behind him were still struggling.
VERY entertaining.

I'll look for it on youtube.

edit: I was thinking how they were gonna broadcast PM LEE's
National Day Rally at 8pm,
when the Singapore vs China table tennis match is at 7.30pm.

Looks like the National Day Rally will be postponed to Monday.

Talk about sports stealing the limelight...

Phelps 3 medals

that is how you would look like when you
win an olympic gold in virtually the last moment
of the race, just 0.08 seconds ahead of the runner up.

Oh, and if you promised the world you would win
8 out of 8 GOLD medals.

Okay he didnt promise it.
But yesterday, Michael Phelps' target/dream
of bagging a record 8 gold medals in a single Olympics
almost went down the drain as team USA
only just won 4 x 100m freestyle men's relay.

Phelps could do nothing but watch
as his teammate Jason Lezak pulled off a miracle comeback
after seeing USA play catch up to France for most of the race.
0.08 seconds, was really too much for me to handle
and my expression was pretty much the same as Phelps'.

They also broke the World Record by a ridiculous
3.99 seconds.
And even more ridiculous, 5 of the teams in dat particular race,
were all under world record timing.

World records have been tumbling for fun
in the swimming scene this year round.
Makes u wonder when it will all stop doesnt it?

At any rate, had Jason Lezak not persevered til the last moment,
Phelps' goal in the Olympics would have come to
a sad and abrupt end.

As for now, he's got either 3 or 4 gold medals already.
And yea, all of them come with new World Records.

So top it all off, lets look at dat million dollar expression
once again.

PS: congrats to Tao Li for fifth place in women's 100m Butterfly.
Fifth fastest in the world, not bad at all.

National Day 2008

Hai guys..
its nt as if i dun have anything to blog about these days.
Its just that i kinda lost the drive to blog.
Additionally, for some reason i feel depressed.
For some reason.

Anyway, i'm sure that i'm nt underestimating the distance
between my house and Marina Bay.
If this is true, thn those freaking
planes featured on NDP 08 just now
are freakin' fast i tell ya'. (random Scottish accent)

I mean, one moment i see them on TV,
flying nearby the floating platform,
and the next moment, they're all flying past my area.
And im talking about that Black/Dark Knights Squadron.
forgot wad they're called but they're awesome i tell ya'.

All of them flying together, produced this big roar
which pretty much shook everything below.
It was probably the loudest thing i heard,
coming from the sky.
I just stood there looking up in total awe.

Yea so dat pretty much was my day.

Happy National Day every1!

edit:-
Today was a good day to watch TV.
Olympics has been entertaining so far,
though everything i watched seemed to be
a women's event.
It was interesting to watch women's
weightlifting and football.

Anyway, i think Calefare and First Class,
the 2 new shows on Channel 5 are pretty good.
You dont get comments like these from me on
local shows very often so trust me when i say
they are worth your time.

Also on TV today was Heroes season 2.
Which everybody watched ages ago.
But still, Heroes is the kind of show you wont
mind watching again.
Still, it wud be better if Season 3 started airing
soon.

K, last minute decided that
i cant be missing out on the chance to catch Ronaldinho
and several other stars in action, live.
So i got the 30 bucks tickets and watched it with
the usuals.

There was lots of Brazilian skills.
And ive never seen sum1 dribble the ball
with such a fast pace before, until just now.
So to me it was worth it.

Exams are nearing,
so im trying hard not to distract myself too much.

As with anything popular,
here's the parody on
Where The Hell Is Matt.

Its called, Where The Hell Is Matt's Girlfriend

and on a completely random note,

that will be all

Where The Hell Is Matt?

Theres this video on YouTube called
Where The Hell is Matt?

I noticed it was pretty popular quite some time ago
but nvr really bothered to watch it.
I wonder why.

Anyway, he (Matt) released a new video.
A 2008 version of his "dancing" around the world.

Yes. Matt travels the world,
and everywhere he goes,
he would take a video of himself dancing
at exotic and interesting places.
He would thn compile all of them into a video.

Before this whole venture,
he was a game developer,
whom after being told to create the game
"Kill All Humans",
he refused and quit his job,
simply stating,
"I wasnt going to create a game
of killing the human race"

*manly salute*

He thn proceeded to use all the money he earned
during his stint as a game developer
and traveled Asia.
He created his first video.

It was a huge success.
Stride Gum called him.

"How would you like to travel and make more videos for us"

"Will you pay for it?"

"Yes"

And thus he has now created 2 more videos.
The concept is simple.
Yet its great to watch

i shall link you to it instead of embedding
so you can go over to youtube and click on the

"watch in high quality"
option just below the video.
thn use full screen.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlfKdbWwruY

some things to look our for: -

- Demilitarised Zone, Korea
- Nellis Air Space, Nevada
- Singapore.

I recall there being Area 51 in one of his videos.
Area 51 is a real place btw.
We just dont know what goes on over there.

14th of July

Today is the 14th of July.
An insignificant day to all.
Except for GESS NCC Intake 04.
It's Independence Day to us.

History:
On this day, 2 years ago,
For the first time ever we boycotted training.
It was some sort of a planned thing.
Though i think 8 out of 23 of us
were against the idea and reported anyway.

Where was I?
At home the whole day on MC.
Hehehe. So guys u cant say i "pon" training.
My 100% record prevails.
Still, somehow, boycotting the training
was wad motivated me to take an MC.

Why did we do this?
We finally realised that enough was enough.
After being mistreated and punished
unreasonably by the then NCOs
for the previous few trainings in a row,
having a platoon mate cry while being punished
and still being bombarded by questions by the NCOs,
having our precious berets confiscated from us,
made to wear the stupid mock zero,
(army boots plus pe shirt and shorts),
all this is part of the process of being "tekan".

Its a very controversial thing really.
Its bad yet its good.
Its good yet its bad.
Dats the overall viewpoint of it.
But to me it was always more of bad.
I think u can count how many times
i actually said "knock it down" in my time as NCO,
let alone how many times i actually made
them carry on to do push ups.
How can punishing without any reason,
breaking one down to his limits,
demoralising him to extreme extents be good?
How does that help?

It only makes the cadet hate the NCO
and this cadet-NCO tension is never good for the unit,
as i have seen.

It was a good thing that the Intake 04
and Intake 03 rivalry didnt turn sour.
It almost did or rather already had on the 14th of July.
But by then both sides realised their mistakes.
And there was never really much tension between us.

But looking at cadets and NCOs nowadays,
cadets seem to give this "want to fight" kind of face,
increasingly often when they get punished,
even if its just abit.
(this is especially so among the sec 3s or even 2s,
as the age gap between them an NCOs
is not that much)
And as for the NCOs, more often than not,
they dont show a good example.
How do you expect the cadet to "face it like a man"
when they have absolutely no respect for you.

"Rebelling" often comes to mind nowadays.
And as stated, its both parties' fault.
No matter wad the pros are, tekan is definitely
not accepted by newer generations of cadets.
You can say ppl are getting more pampered.
But i think the true reason is what i've mentioned above.

What are the pros of tekan u might be wondering?
I gotta admit tekan played a huge part in bonding
Intake 04 together.
I think in terms of togetherness and unity,
we are exemplary.
But considering how cadets accept punishment nowadays,
i think its better for us to use other methods
to gel ppl together.
There are many. Push ups isnt the only way.
Of course, whenever we go to some random place
like KFC, Mac, kopitiam or a coffee shop to talk cock
about days of the past,
tekan always comes first.
What memories they bring.

I remember in Sec 1,
when we were stupid and naive,
the antiques of Private Chng Bin Hong Bryan,
always led us into trouble.
We got fucked day in day out on dat camp.
Everytime we entered our bunks,
we were on all fours rather than on our feet.

Sec 2 annual camp
is the major talking point for tekan, really.
Forced to fall in when ur busy bathing,
not once, not twice, but thrice.
Immediately after that,
we got powder bathed in our bunks,
which made the floor slippery
and so whenever we fidget in push up position
due to the powder on the floor,
we got fucked even more.
(rhymes)

Sec 3, well.
It was okay.
We expected it.
It came.
We faced it.
It was over.
One thing i remember more prominently was
how Mun Wah fell down outside the classroom
cuz he was in a hurry. Haha.

K i think i digressed too much.
The point is,
14th of July happened because of tekan.
Intake 04 does not support tekan.
We did not tekan in our reign as NCOs.
I guess what really made 14 July so impt
is that it was the day we stood for our rights and ideals.
Dun get me wrong though.
If any cadets are reading this and start to formulate
funny ideas,
well, lets just say u guys wont escape so easily from it.
I doubt any of them know of this blog though.
I'm actually taking a big risk
posting about this topic in the first place.

U know its perfectly okay,
if u just scrolled down to this paragraph
cuz ur lazy to read.
I hate lengthy posts myself.
I just need to post this so next time i can look back and read.

That's all for today then.
My streak of losses still continue.
Though today i managed to score 2 goals

and conceded 10+++
