tribute to ryan giggs

Just a day ago I linked JK to a video
compilation of Ryan Giggs.
Today, it is announced that he is the
PFA Player of the Year.

I'm really happy for him cuz he has served
United for so long
and has mesmerized us all with his dazzling runs
down the wing,
or maybe in recent times,
his experience and consistent performances.

Ryan Giggs is without a doubt my favorite player
of all time.
Too bad i'm not left legged.

Del Piero once said,

"This is embarrassing to say, but i've cried twice in my life watching a football player; the first one was Roberto (Baggio) and the second was Ryan Giggs"

Looking back at all that he has done for United,
I might as well cry too.

FICO

So today played a soccer tournament
at FICO, which is at Boon Lay.
The night b4 i watched as Man Utd
went down 2 - 0 to Spurs at half time.
This morning i woke up to the news
that they hit 5 goals back to win the game.
Fabulous.

Must have been a great game,
but i had to rest for today.

More about today, i wasnt very nervous about it
cuz i've had at least a little bit
of exposure to Open Category competitions.
I knew what to expect.
Moreover, the pitch dimensions and surface
were things that I am already very familiar with.

We had a decent start when Wei Xiong bagged a hattrick
to win us the game.

The next game i went in to score the opening goal.
I dont know why, but everytime i score
a goal in a competition,
my memory of it will just be a
blurry sequence of events.
So i'm nt rly able to describe how i scored it.
All i remember is i shot it through the keeper's legs.
I guess its true when they say,

"A well positioned goalkeeper's weakness
is the space between his legs"

We had a 2 goal lead but then gave it all away
when we conceded 2.

Then in the third match, we failed to hold on to a draw
and conceded a late goal, resulting in a loss.

In the last game, which i did not play at all,
we won 7 - 1.
We had to in order to gain the best
goal difference possible.

But it didnt matter cuz the other team
contending with us for 2nd place of the group
qualified with just 1 point more than us.

By then i had already realised
that as with any other previous occasion,
i would fail to make it to the
Round of 16, or quarter finals.

Still, i dont go to these competitions with high hopes.
All i want is to gain more exposure
and enjoy the run about.

Now that i've done those 2, it's about time
i get going on my assignments.

IS Module

Is presentation is over
so we're about to complete it.
Just have to apply the finishing touches
on our learning plans and post trip reports.
I'm sure every1's more worried about EM3A exam though..

With effect from this coming Monday,
I shall study for it.
If I dont..
..well, that's that then..

So school started.
Nothing much has changed.
You cant really differentiate the freshmen from the seniors.
I dont feel that much different.

Lessons are different though.
There are many new faces in lecture and tutorial.
And half the time in school
is now spent on practical.

So far, all we've gone through in practical
are the safety rules and regulations.
The lecturers talk as if we may really one day die
of electric shock in one of our labs.
But i guess that can only be true
if we stay careless.

Sounds like you cant slack in practical anymore.
Better get my head in the game.

Futsal had it's first training today
and the new recruits were there too.
Spotted some outstanding individuals
other thn tht, I've not been at my best
at the court for the past 2 days.
Competition is on Sunday
so i wonder how i will do.

Josh seems to agree with me that life has become so troublesome.
School is troublesome.
Getting to school is troublesome
Studying is troublesome.
Staying awake in class is troublesome
Getting home from school is troublesome

Probs and woes are troublesome.
Making decisions is troublesome.
Facing the facts is troublesome.

busy even b4 semester starts

I can't believe today was the first time
i ever went to NP Alumni.
The place seems like a pretty cool place to me.
I think i'm gonna go there quite often
just to use the shower facilities.
Have membership card thn must make full use rite?

There were lots of people around at
Convention Centre to set up their booths for
tmr's CCA Fiesta.
So it's been one year huh.
Kinda fitting that i grow a year older
close to when the new academic year starts.
Well anyway, our booth only took us 10 mins
to prepare.

Apart from planning the first training on Wed,
I really got lots of impt stuff to do now.
IS module presentation is on Wed too.
Soccer competition is on Sun,
and most imptly, the EM3A exam next week.
Someone's gotta remind me that I have to do all these.

So basically, even b4 semester starts,
I'm already busy.
Please dont let this be a sign for things to come.

Life should give me better signs than this.

This year's birthday might have been the best yet.

I apologize that I was not able to catch
the Man Utd vs Porto game
cuz i had to wake up early the next day to go to school.

But waking up and straight away learning
that Ronaldo scored a wonder of a goal
to win United the game, was a really great feeling.
Its like CR7 knows it was my day. haha.

Then I had to make my way to NP
to collect a book prize for
one of the modules i was taking.
EE division is getting bigger and bigger,
since now there is another new course,
Clean Energy Management.
So freshies, see you all around.

I must say that these 2 things alone
was enough to make me satisfied on the day.

But there was still a BBQ on the afternoon.
Yea. It's the main reason why i didnt stay up late
to watch the game in the first place.

BBQ was great.
Didnt expect a cake,
but well, always knew the cake would not be meant
for eating.

There are videos of us smothering cake
and spraying coke on each other
but I dont think it will be of any use uploaded here
cuz it was quite dark and you cant see it clearly.

As crazy as it was, sum1 brought up the idea of
rushing home, and straight away coming out again
to play soccer.
Being the freaks that we are, we did exactly that.

I was so tired by noon,
i was dozing off at mosque
during friday prayers.

Took a 4 hour nap when i got back,
and now i find myself wide awake at the wrong time of the day.

after i've not been around for so long.
Kind of a last minute thing we planned
after soccer earlier in the morning.

After 6 weeks of not kicking a ball properly,
scoring was kind of difficult,
but i'm glad everything else is okay.
