Campus Superstar

yea so morning had a short NCC training
tot the Part C's how to do a footdrill mutual
and let some of them have a taste
of Command and Control.
in other words, taking footdrill

thn played, or rather practiced soccer at the field
Luqman, Ong, Hardeep, Wai Leong, Phelan, Guo Sheng, Rahim
came down.
of course, plus Chi Jie and I.
i realize i can cross the ball now
chi jie improved his kicking ><

luqman still quite lazy at diving
guo sheng practiced shooting also
but wad amazed me was Phelan, Ong, Hardeep and Wai Leong.

while the rest alr left the field to shower and rest in school,
those 4 were still kicking it out in the field.
well i dunno
it might be because only one more spot is left
in the first eleven.
and only one of them will get it.
seriously speaking, i dunno who will.
but yea, keep on trying guys.

and yea i think i make the team sound so strong ><

Campus Superstar

today featured our school's Zijie.
and well, i certainly hoped he got higher points,
but 20/30 shall do.

funny thing was after the judges made their comments
i think he actually said
xie xie lao shi
which is thank you teacher?
haha

realizing his mistake,
he gave the oops-i-did-a-mistake-stick-out-my-tongue face
yea. haha
anyway good luck

Bulletins on Friendster

I wanna start off by saying that
i dont really appreciate bulletins on Friendster.
yes they are good entertainment.
when you are bored of course.
i get bored often so i end up opening them up

but when it starts threatening you
like for example

YOU WILL NOT BE LOVED FOR ZOMGWTF1371231238913 YEARS.

for NOT posting this to another friend.

dats annoying.

and i can be amazed with the content of some of these posts.

heres one

Breaking news message.. News

Flash....!!!!!The artist who drew the
pictures of the Prophet Muhammed (Peace
BeUponHim&his family) has died in a
fire. He was burned alive. Denmark
government is hiding the news from the
public and everyone has to know. Plz
spread this.... (Its the price one must
pay 4 the insult of Allahâ#8364;#8482;s
Prophet)

so who thinks this is true?
anyway, somehow, religion made its way into bulletins.

now check this out

A girl and guy were speeding over 100
mph on the road on a motorcycle...

Girl: Slow down. Im scared.
Guy: No this is fun.
Girl: No its not. Please, its too scary!
Guy: Then tell me you love me.
Girl: Fine, I love you. Slow down!
Guy: Now give me a BIG hug.
Girl hugs him
Guy: Can you take my helmet off & put it
on yourself? Its bugging me.
In the paper the next day. A
motorcycle had crashed into a building
because of brake failure. Two people
were on it, but only one had survived.

The truth was that halfway down the
road, the guy realized that his brakes
broke, but he didn't want to let the
girl know. Instead, he had the helmet
fixed on the girl to save her.

i wanna emphasize on why,
WHY
was only the guy wearing a helmet.
and the girl is not?
if the guy LOVES the girl he makes sure
they dont do stupid things
like having one partner ride a bike without a helmet.

YES, i know its a good attempt at a love story.
but good stories focus on details.

greatest battle is to keep on living.
seems like the guy gave up too soon
maybe he shud have let go of the accelerator?
and try and drive all 100mphs out safely.

and did it all by myself.
i even asked questions when i didnt know certain things.
trust me, its rare

today was a first for many things
hope it wont be the last too..

June Movies

June June June
Holidays Holidays Holidays
Movies Movies Movies

its just the beginning of the month.
ive only watched one.
but wait.

Pirates of the Caribbean was released on 24th May
so does dat count?

anyway,
here's a rundown of the movies we can expect this month

of course, now showing,

Shrek 3
never really a fan of the series. didnt really enjoy the first one
but i'll watch the second one on Channel 5

Bottom Line: wait for it on TV

Oceans Thirteen
Another series dat is entering the third of its kind. Seems like a real cool movie. Especially after watching, "The Making of.." I compared the plot to the one of The Italian Job but i was told dat the 2 is very different. Italian Job has more action and stunts, while Danny Ocean's men depend on even proper planning of events and stuff. I was told that they did so much, it was hard to follow the first 2 movies. I had a hard time catching up with the pace of Pirates 3, so maybe i'll give this movie a miss.

Bottom line: like what i said. maybe i'll give it a miss.

Fantastic 4: Rise of The Silver Surfer
The first one was a real disappointment. I expected more from a fight between the Fantastic Four and the ever so sinister Doctor Doom. But in the first movie they just obtained their powers. The Human Torch only knew how to fly during the last fight.
This time, they've probably matured with their powers and we can finally expect more action, expecially when the plot is about saving the world. I'm also interested in seeing how Galactus (Silver Surfer's Master) is portrayed. And how will the return of Doctor Doom add a twist to the story?

and btw, Silver Surfer voiced by Laurence Fishburne?
no link?

Bottom Line: Since i'm a comic book hero fan, this is a must-watch

Surf's Up
I got a glimpse of this before watching Spider-Man 3. Another one of those attractive animated films. About a penguin who dreams to be a renowned surfer. Tells the story of his life, his dream, with a fair share of humor.
I dont get how it is "based on a true story" though. haha.

Bottom Line: might just watch this. if given the money

Transformers
The transformation of vehicles to robots is something that i dun wanna miss.
They're smart as to not revealing TOO much in the trailers. Transformers. Yea you mught call it childish or anything. But hey! Its directed by Michael Bay who directed massively successful movies such as Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, Bad Boys. And the executive producer is Steven Spielberg. I dont have to give elaboration on dat. As kiddy as the title may seem, believe it or not, the movie was given an initial rating of R. After an appeal, it is now PG 13.

Bottom Line: I dunno. Seems VERY appealing. Enough to be a blockbuster.
I'll make up my mind later.

ALSO COMING SOON(JULY)

Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix
im watching this one

The Simpsons Movie
definitely

Goal 2
YES!!

Die Hard 4
another appealing one. But i wud have watched too many i guess.

here are some trailers for the coming movies

Kuda Kepang

woo! had fun today! (night)
well not long ago i heard one of my uncle opened up
a restaurant or some sort.
so like almost one month later, (present day)
we decided to go eat at his place.
wishful thinking

well, somehow i saw this coming.
u know it isnt dat easy opening up a business.
so before we pay my uncle a visit, it doesnt kill to at least
give him a call to ask if its open today, or is
it still existing rite?
my mom thought otherwise, confident in the words
of her younger brother.
well, my OTHER uncle was bringing us there by car.
so i wasnt complaining.

i dont ride cars often okay.
and i rarely eat out for dinner.

so the place is called Riazz Relak (relax) Corner.
haha.
before we reached, my uncle gave his son a call
cuz he alr reached the supposed destination.

"I see Riazz Relak Corner, but i dun see anybody relaxing"
yea so i knew wad was gonna happen.
we reached.
everything was closed and locked with all the equipment outside.
"FOR RENT"
anti climax, i know.

well the good thing was, my uncle knew another restaurant nearby
so we went there.
a hundred times better.
air con, School Of Rock on Channel 5,
and a wide variety of food, from Indian to Malay to Western.

my food came last.
cuz Black Pepper Chicken Rice was not available
so i changed to Mee Goreng,
which was rather unique and delicious.
i think they added cheese or sth..

so dat was for dinner
here comes the interesting part.
sadly i have no camera of some sort to snap some pics.
but even if i had one, maybe id be too afraid to do so.
ok so i wasnt dat afraid, just cautious

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

wad was going on was dat at Kampong Melayu
(Malay Village, its a heritage centre)
there was this Kuda Kepang show going on.
soo many ppl were watching it cuz events like this
are very rare nowadays.
Kuda Kepang groups were often invited to weddings to perform.
but not so frequently now.

why?
because it requires the use of
(i dunno wad it is but i wont call it "dark arts")
unknown methods
to make performers enter a trance
and from there onwards, you'll never know wad they'll do.

NOTE: my dad says dat they are not being possesed, rather entering a very empty state of mind whereby they take on the persona of ancient Javanese warriors. In other words, in dat moment of trance, they are SOMETHING else.

so it all begins with a simple line dance of some sort.
in a row, 4 men on one side, 4 women on the other.
they pretend as if they are riding horses,
made of nothing more thn cardboard,
but decorated with bells, ribbons and lots more.
they dance to slow and repeating tempo

which continues to repeat,
constantly increasing and decreasing its beat,
throughout the whole 30 mins or so.

when the women start to exit the arena,
there is a feeling among the crowd that the REAL show was about to begin.

slowly, the 4 men entered their trances.
they were made to sniff some incense.
it kicked off with one of them suddenly going berserk,
kicking one of his mates, and jumping over him.

throughout the whole 20mins or so,
u just marvel at the random things dat they will do.
u have the choice of looking at either one of the 4.
it was as if u were at the zoo.
u just stand outside the cage, and look at the animals
and try to spot which one was the most exciting to watch
which one was outstanding.
in this case, it was like watching horses.

one guy stood out.
he was very popular with the crowd
he stared at the kids with eyes opened wide,
knocked his head on poles,
knocked his forehead on shattered glass pieces on the ground,
stepped on it,
jumped over a row of three chairs,
spit water at one of the "guards"
even bite off a portion of a glass bowl
and many many more
wads amazing was dat they do not sustain injuries
not even a stain of blood.

the other 3 chose to be more gentle.
and settle with dancing,
spinning,
running around.

they were treated like real horses.
whenever they were thirsty, they went to this guy
who would just take out and give them a pail of water.
they would then put their heads inside it and drink
as if they've not seen water for days.

whenever they got mischievious and threatened the crowd,
or almost go out of control,
the "guards" would stare at them.
they would just stare back just like how an angry animal would.
there were 2 ppl who went around carrying whips.
whenever they felt like it,
they whipped the "horses"
not lightly, but with full force.
but the "horses" showed no signs of pain
im telling you, those were real whips
and the sound of the slashes were proof that the guards
showed no mercy in whipping them.

so when the time is right,
one by one,
the guards take them down.

3 ppl would take on one "horse"
tackle him down just like an animal,
hold him on the ground,
unequip his cardboard horse,
put it over him,
and whip the cardboard three times.
occasionally, additional methods were used
cuz one or 2 of them were just too
immersed in their trance.

when it ended,
it received a very well deserved round of applause.
i, one who has never seen such a performance b4,
was totally amazed.
it was indeed SUPERNATURAL
my mom further explained dat in the olden days,
Kuda Kepang performances were even more extreme
an example would be "horses" jumping at extraordinary heights.
and much more.

well im happy to have experienced it at least once.
i was told dat i was lucky
as the performance today was more interesting
thn the ones on previous days.

to enter a state of trance
and ignore the limitations of the body.
sounds cool enough.
but they say it requires
alot of discipline to train both the body and the mind
to sustain such a state.

however when mastered,
a performance like dat,
can go on for hours, maybe even until morning,
if the "guards" dont stop them.
