Kallang ROARED

Kallang ROARED.
in the last ever competitive match played on its grounds.
a match so controversial,
the Thais are probably going mad at the referee.

Singapore benefits through a questioned penalty,
given by the Malaysian official,
to proceed with a 2 - 1 win.

the big mystery is whether Singapore striker Noh Alam Shah,
really was brought down by a Thai defender,
in the penalty box.

Thai players all refused to play on, and left the pitch,
frustrated by the decision made.
10 mins of time was wasted to convince
Thailand to play on.
The referee was to stay firm with his decision.

to be honest, according to wad i saw,
MAYBE it was a bad decision.
but i'd like to think otherwise.

the main problem lies ahead.
Already benefiting from a controversial penalty,
Singapore is yet to face Thailand AGAIN,
this time in BANGKOK

Imagine the treatment they will receive there,
not only by players,
but by spectators.

Anyways, good luck LIONS!

BRING HOME THE CUP FOR THE 3RD TIME!

A new era

Ka: Is this a new beginning?

he was referring to GESS soccer trashing New Town
7 - 3.
over at Queenstown Sec School.

i dont know much about the team since i abandoned it
for one year in 2006.

but i can recall in 2004, we lost to New Town
in an opening match
of a season we finished 2nd last.

2005 saw improvements.
but GESS soccer has never tasted as much success
as the BBall team.

7 - 3 is indeed a good score.

adding to a "like 90-15 or smth"
win from the GESS bball team.
(according to Ka again)

we cud have went on a killing spree if Netball had won
Cedar Girls.
unfortunately, Cedar is "like nationals top 3 or sth"
[you can guess who said dat (ka)]

i THINK Netball's statistics are like
W - L - W - L
still a fair result.

so yea, back to soccer,
i nvr really considered joining it back.
but after school today, i saw the jersey.

its nice ;_;
all i have with me is an ugly red black old one.
which is STILL oversized.

___________________________________________________________________________

Around one more hour till
Singapore vs Thailand.

the first leg of the FINALS.

Kallang ROARS, one last time.
too bad i cant be there.

i guess i'll be having more heart attacks 8pm onwards.

the Arena

I don't think watching the Arena
improves my English much.
well nobody said it would.
but the EL department encouraged us. so..
you know wad i mean.

i applaud the students who got the guts
to participate in such a competition.
but to learn anything from them?
hardly.

they were just overwhelmed by the tension
of the moment.
dat sometimes, they start to argue on a diff topic.
they also dont really talk properly.
they just RUSH thru their words.
im not saying i can do anything better. but.
you know wad i mean.

BUT
you CAN learn a thing or 2 from the judges.
they gave comments and tips on how to
improve the quality of the debate.
you can apply their advice into writing
argumentive essays for EL.

dats all i learnt.

Singapore defeats Malaysia in Penalties

Once again,
i regret not being an owner of a camera.
So many pics cud have been taken

but nvrm.

we're through to the finals again!!
this time by a Penalty Showdown.

i really couldnt take the pressure of penalty shootout
live in a stadium, sincerely supporting ur home team.

its very different when you are at home,
supporting a team like England in penalties.

both teams first 5 shooters made their shots count.
it was Shi Jia Yi who really raised everyones adrenaline rate
when his shot was touched by the fingertips
of the Malaysian goalie
but went into the goal anyway.

So when it was down to Malaysia's 5th kicker,
ppl had their arms around each other, cheering,
"SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE"

it was a rather weak effort.
and Lionel Lewis took advantage of it.
he saved it.
the crowd went wild. real wild.

newspaper pieces and aeroplanes flew everywhere.
ppl hugged ppl they didnt know.
ppl just kept on jumping and scream.
it didnt matter how thin the win was.
the point is, there WILL be a SINGAPORE
in the FINALS.

TIP: when you are watching a Singapore match at the stadium,
make sure you watch along with

Me, Iskandar Shahril Benny Jaarvis Guo Sheng Muneer Phelan Wai Leong,
Intake 03: Khalish, Hanif, Kai Sheng, Solomon, Juan Wen
and my QTSS friends: Junaidi, Yusof, Wee Kheong.

win or lose, confirm have fun.

jaarvis and junaidi made so many ppl laugh.

Malaysia,
"BALIK KAMPONG! OH OH OH BALIK KAMPONG!.."

Malaysia 1 - Singapore 1

I swear i went thru a few mins of hell
watching dat Malaysia vs Singapore game.

First of all, the Malaysians scored first.
They looked as if they were dominating.
Then Singapore pulled one back.
Then there was dat penalty claim.
Then the Lionel Lewis slight mistake.
Then the Lionel Lewis crucial save.

Aide Iskandar was shown the RED for some reason.
It wasnt showed on the screen.
No reply too.
I dont know.
The bad news is, he cant play the next match
this Saturday, against Malaysia again.

After all dat, there was FOUR bloody minutes
of added time for me to survive through.
Thn the corner flag broke into half.
Then the FAST thinking referees argued
on whether they must replace the flag first.

THEN FINALLY

the final whistle blew.

1 - 1 isnt the best score for the Lions to bring home.
taking into consideration dat they will
be playing without 2 key defenders,

Precious
and
Captain, Aide Iskandar.

It WILL be a big blow.

Man U Slip Up

Another slip up for Man U.
Just when Liverpool downed Chelsea 2 - 0,
Man U just had to lose to Arsenal 2 - 1.

they allowed a 1-0 lead to be overturned

just because of these 2 idiots.
but i gotta admit, V.Persie and Henry really are something

quite a fuss about it this morning.
even my Malay teacher asked who won o.O
surprisingly, Mr Abraham Joseph didnt show
any signs of depression dat a die hard fan would suffer.

Mr. AJ went on to lead the school
through his now trademark cheer.
the G-E-S-S-I-A-N + punch the air cheer.

theres a new cheer created by Mr. AJ

"GREEN RED WHITE!
GESSIANS GESSIANS FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!"

Muse, Flag Day

20th January.

Muse came and gone.
Some say it was the greatest gig in the history of all greatest gigs.
Some say the Singapore crowd sucks.

Whatever it is, MUSE never fail to give the best
live performances in the world.

Thank goodness there is YouTube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iN8ODgzYN6s
help urself.

____________________________________________________________________

we had flag day for CIP this year.
it was for the Dahrul Ihsan Orphanage.
it was my 3rd time doing flag day.
first 2 being for Yellow Ribbon.

judging from how HEAVY the others' cans were,
i think me, sufi and haziq got more collections thn the rest
of the class combined.

just kiddin. i only checked a few ppl's.
and u cant judge by how heavy the can/tin is.
anyway wads most important is dat we did it
without hesitation and from the heart.

LOTS of FUNNY things happened.

i was standing at my spot.
an Indian man approached me.

with the mainland Indian accent, he went on to say:

Indian Foreigner: Excuse me, where MRT?
A-z: Over there *points to direction of Lavender
Indian Foreigner: How to go to Hollywood?

halo! Hollywood leh. the moment he said dat,
a few possibilities crossed my mind.

1. Did he mean Bollywood? But still, dats not a place.
dats just a term for Indian filming industry.

2. Is it an attraction or theme park in Singapore which i
dont know of?

3. Does this guy even know he is in Ma-ri-ki-ta Land,
not the USA?

4. Is this guy a star in the making? Just lost?

with his accent, he kept on saying Hollywood, Hollywood, Hollywood.
i bit my tongue just to hold my laughter.

he finally took out a map.
and guess where he pointed to?

WOODLANDS.

A-z: yes sir, MRT is better than bus.
Indian Foreigner: OKAY. thank you
A-z: *laughing alone in the middle of the street

____________________________________________________________________

then something funny happened to SUFI.

i was talking to him about Scout's Job Week.
in which they raise funds by going around house to house,
asking if they could do any chores.

A-z: What if they dont want u to do any chores?
Sufi: Even if they dont want we just ask them,
"Would you like to make a contribution.."

so at this very moment a lady walked past.

Chinese Lady: For?

get it? she tot Sufi was talking to her.
so she asked what the contribution was for.

Sufi got a lil shocked. thn said it was for orphanage.
Haziq, Iskandar and I IMMEDIATELY laughed.

much more happened today.
but for now, imma continue watching Naruto.

Singapore vs Indonesia

God.
That was too close.
Singapore 2
Indonesia 2

Thankfully, we qualify to the semi finals.

Our Golden Boy Indra Shahdan scores again.
earlier on, Noh Alam Shah reverted a penalty into a goal.

But both Singapore goals
were equalised by respective
Indonesian goals.
So it was thrilling game throughout, with twists and turns
here and there.

Vietnam worked Laos into a 9 - 0 win.
But Singapore won 11 - 0 remember?
so Singapore is TOP of the table
because they scored most goals in 3 games.

Singapore, Vietnam and Indonesia
shared the same points.
But Indonesia fell 3rd place
cuz they failed to score more goals.

So the next match will be a CAUSEWAY match.
Singapore vs Malaysia.
There are a 101 reasons for every1 to anticipate this game.
Its a classic.

23rd Jan. I'll be looking forward to it.

Let It Shine

Watching Gan Eng Seng School getting featured on the new
Channel 8 series Let It Shine
feels kinda weird.

I dunnoe.
the classrooms actually look
NEAT and WELL DECORATED.
the school looks pretty clean and all.
but there was almost no hint dat
it was indeed,
GAN ENG SENG SCHOOL.

shudnt they at least show the NAME of the premises on their show?
oh wait!
there
WAS a hint!
the Tiong Bahru Side Gate wall.
those red letters on the short lil wall.
and guess wad the characters did?

they climbed over it!
yes!
they are showcasing how easy it is to break in and out of
the skool!
just kidding. entertainment purposes.
im not trying to boast or anything,
but maybe,

MAYBE,

they got this idea from us, going back home from
training, climbing over dat wall as one large group.
they were somewhere near.

anyway, the school is encouraging us to watch
the Arena
tonight.
currently, its PCK on channel 5, which apparently
deproves ur English.
so those watching PCK,
better watch the Arena later on.

Singapore vs Laos

Singapore 11 Laos 0
Asean Cup.

Indra Shahdan 7 goals.
No wonder he's on dat Nike Ad.
the "u score and i'll break ur bone" ad.

Now just need to win Indonesia.
And we'll most probably qualify from top of the table.
If draw, still qualify la.
unless Vietnam and Indonesia score more than 11 goals la.

Vietnam and Indonesia drew with each other, 1 - 1.
Now Singapore must NOT lose to Indonesia.
If they do, and Vietnam claim 3 points from Laos,
dats it.

Well, Indonesia IS out for revenge.
We denied them the Cup 2 years ago.

a close 4 - 3 win
weather without rain
good things do happen when u pray hard for it.

and though i scored a HATTRICK,
overall, im disappointed with myself.
i missed soo many times in the 2nd half.
i cant blame everything on the mud.
though it didnt do me any justice.

all my goals were results of assists from my teammates.
first one was from a beautiful in swinging corner.
for some reason, i was left unmarked.
the ball landing directly in front of goal line,
having lobbed over the keeper,
was perfect for me to finish with a diving header.

second one was the kind of
get-ball-turn-shoot kind of goal.
cant remember who passed to me.

third one, the opponent goalie miskicked his goal kick.
Setiawan got it, passed to me,
and after missing like 5 times in front of goalpoast
by using the correct method of kicking,
i just decided to tonjol the ball
(kicking it with ur toes)
it went in so dat made it 4 - 3 in
extension time.

bloody lucky.
almost self destruct early in 2nd half, conceding 2 goals.

luqman got a few saves, at least he didnt flop anything.

phelan's performance was surprising.
i shudnt doubt him anymore.

ke de wasnt as good as we expected.
he still made an impact though.

benny had trouble in first half cuz of his shoe.
but he really made up for it on the 2nd.

chi jie was also steady. good passes coming from him.

wai leong also not bad. haha. serious.

ri sheng had to go out early cuz got knocked on the head.
but he still hasnt lost his dribbling touch man.

rahim was VERY good.
knowned for his high work rate, he was one of the few
who made the effort to attack AND defend.
defence was strong, with him around.

setiawan assisted 3 of our 4 goals.
including a flawless corner, a pass with the knee
and many many tackles to get the ball.

guo sheng just couldnt find his finishing touch.
but im nt saying he didnt do good.
in fact, instead of me supporting him,
he supported me.

muneer played a fabulous game.
dribbling pass everyone, passing here and there.
scored the first goal too.

as for me, even though i scored 3, i really didnt like
my performance just now.
like i said, i missed alot.
yes, i did come to score a hattrick,
but also much much more.

anyway. it was a rather good game
not the best ever though.

Pre Match

Pray. Pray hard
Everyone out there, pray for me.
Pray for GOOD weather tomorrow.

God, i wont even ask for GOOD weather.
all i'm asking for is weather that does not obstruct us to play soccer.
God, i wont even ask for good weather the whole day.
just the morning shall do.

Since 2005 we've been doing this.
we played 7 matches with each other.
3 wins for each, and 1 draw.
tomorrow may well settle it.

rain please stop for just one morning
and let us have one heaven of a game.

Thursday is Doomsday

One look at the time table (4G)
and you'll know that Thursday is one
pathetic day.

Double A.Math/POA
followed by double E.Math
followed by double English
followed by Chemistry
followed by double Biology

POA was to be boring as usual
E.Math was to be as confusing as usual
there was gonna be a writing test
and a Chem test,
and well, 1 hour of absorbing Bio stuff.

but hey!
it turned out to be an OK day.

breezed thru POA cuz the topic was easy,
did some timing thing for E.Math,
(i write 40 words per minute)
and i think i did a good job on writing,
"Is The Majority Always Right?"
Chem test was an open book one
and I THINK i'll pass.
Bio was great cuz we recieved test marks.
27/30 XD
also did summore tests.

maybe u just cant judge a book by its cover.
in this case, a day by the timetable.

Bio Practical with Goats eyes

Bio practical was freaky.
but way too fun.
Bisected a sheep/goat/lamb eye.
i still dont know which of the 3.

thank god there were gloves.
for those who have not went thru this bio practical,
advice from me to you,

DO NOT SMELL IT.

just dont.
but if u want to, go ahead.
anyway, it wasnt all gross and yukky,
it was a good way to learn more about the eye.

anyway a difference between a sheep/goat/lamb's
eye with ours is dat
their pupil seem to be much bigger than the iris.

we learn that the Pupil, the part that allows light to enter the eye,
enlarges when more light is needed in order to see.

due to this

i cant help but think dat they

"SAW THE LIGHT"

before they died.
maybe u dont get it.

Lost Wallet

Wad an amazing evening sky.
Its 7.20 pm.
The sky's supposed to be dark by now.
But its glimmering in red.
Such a pretty ending to a

F****d up
day.

I lost my wallet
dats all i have to say.

Orientation Over!

Woo!
Im beat, tired, exhausted, lethargic, half dead.
We managed to pull through!

Well actually much credit goes to the CLTs
for helping in every way possible. ;_;

Mock attack cock up a lil bit
cuz the amplifier went haywire
and didnt wanna work for us.
its funny dat we tested it ytday and it worked fine.
but nevertheless, the Part B and Cs did a fine job.
i guess they gave it their all.
its sad though, to end things off with a casualty.
thnks SJAB for treating him ;_;

from what ive heard, SJAB did VERY well.
we'll see how things go from here then.
i think we did well too.
quite a number.

well, though its still of my concern,
i wont be worrying about recuitment drive much anymore.
ive got my own platoon to take
along with

Chi Jie
Mun Wah
Benny
Ali
Hardeep
Ri Sheng

start planning for Annual Camp!!

CCA Orientation (UG) 2007

Time flies.
CCA Orientation for Uniformed Groups is tomorrow.

the condition of NCC's static display room
well, its in a mess really,
but tmr we'll do the touch ups.

mock attack seems to be okay.
thnx to the help from CLTs.
my only concerns there are the smoke bombs.
and the fairly good acting.

from what ive heard, this year's batch are inactive in physical activities.

every year theres ALOT of competition from other UGs.
this year, SJAB has been having a rather big campaign.
Giving out flyers everywhere.
Scouts, as usual will have the most impressive display.
Many are attracted to NPCC's shooting range.
And of course,
BB's constant improvement into being a top flight unit.

NCC has been the most consistent unit in GESS history.
but dat doesnt mean we have a clear win.
we arent the best NCOs ever.
some may even think we'll be the downfall of the unit.
tomorrow is part of the deciding factor.

may god be with us.

Countdown@ViVoCity

Watching Countdown 2007, i noticed several things.

1) Gurmit Singh is really versatile.
He acts, he sings, he dances.
He acts comedy, he acts drama.
He sings acoustic, he raps.
He is the only contractor in Singapore who can breakdance.

2) Daniel Ong flirting with Jamie Teo
"Ok baby, i mean Jamie."
Thn he gives a playful look at the camera, thn back to Jamie.
"A simple question, why are u blushing?"

3) Daniel Ong leading the crowds
He was shouting "Yeah Yeah Yeah!!" to the crowd.
His last YEAH was to loud and caused some problems
with the sound system or something.
Only half the Yeah was heard.
so it sounded like
YEAH YEAH F*** YEAH!!

4) Paul Twohill cant breakdance
Joakim was okay. Gurmit did a great Worm.
Paul attempted the tri-stand.
And fell in an undesired way.

5) Taufik Batisah is EVILL..
Gurmit asks Taufik, "What are ur goals for 2007"
He answers,
"I wanna make more friends, and er..
make more mm.."
at this point he was giving this damn sly and cheeky
look on his face.
He went on to say "Music"
not "MONEY"
Well we know the truth dont we? ;)

Best performance of the night?
I'd say JJ Lin, Mi Lu Ping and Lucify.
Female Mediacorp Artistes performing Man Eater was hip too.

2007

HElllOOOO...2007!
a few mins ago was last year!!
ppl!!

well ever since i was a child, i always had this thinking dat
12mn every new year wud be the defining time
of the end of the world.
now this was always scary, especially in 2000.
so SOMEHOW, this fear came back.
and when u ppl were counting 10 to 1,
believe it or not, i was praying, asking for forgiveness and all.

wads most scary
is dat i live DIRECTLY on the foothills of Mt Faber.
They are having this countdown party too rite now.
and they played fireworks.
i tell you the fireworks sounded like bombs
explosions
end of the world!
at least for a second, it startled me.
thank god.

i went on to enjoy the fireworks
which really were amazing.
consider this for a view outside ur kitchen window.
a sight FULL of trees and nothing but trees, on a hill,
but colourful, sparkling and dazzling fireworks in the sky,
visible over the canopy.
not a sight u see evryday.
well im not an owner of a camera.
so none of the 5 mins of fireworks were filmed or captured.

i can FEEEL the energy.
the ppl on Mt Faber are screaming
the ppl at Vivo City are screaming
the ppl at Esplanade are screaming.

is this the end of the world?!?!

no!
its just

2007!!
