2009

Happy New Year everyone!!
feels weird to be celebrating a new year
when the academic year is not done yet.

Well ytday was the first time i ever celebrated
new year outside of my home.

Started off with watching Ip Man.
I went into the cinema with the following opinions:
1) Ip Man is imbal
2) Japanese General noob
3) The movie is better than Huo Yuanjia
This is according to several blogs and reports.

I couldnt agree more on no.1
Like seriously, it was the most one sided movie
i have ever seen.
The ending fight was also the most one sided one
i have ever seen.
Like throughout the course of the whole movie,
what kind of injury did we see him get?

Well, first of all he got bruised knuckles;
but only because he whacked the shit out of
10 and more Japanese Soldiers.
(which is btw, my fav scene)

And at the ending fight, he did get hit twice (TWICE)
and had a bruise at his cheek or sth.

That's all, you know...

He was like a one man army or sth.
Even Rambo almost dies on his lone missions la..

I quote Mr Abraham Joseph:-
"Have u ever watched Rambo?
One person take on the whole army..
BULLSHIT!!.."

Well thn again, it IS a portrayal of a Grandmaster.
So all's well and end's well.
Come to think of it, Huo Yuanjia was also kind of one sided.
Its just that he got poisoned at the end and died.
Its kind of like in contrast to those Hollywood movies
in which the hero starts off as a nothing,
then trains and becomes a something.
So this might be the reason why im overreacting
to the imbalness ( > 9000) that is Eep Mun.

Well, for opinion no.2,
Cant really agree cuz the general actually is,
no matter how you see it,
a formidable fighter.
Its just so sad that his opponent was OVER 9000.

And opinion no.3,
I cant agree at all.
Given the tenfold size of the screen,
plus the surround sound,
Ip Man didnt fail to mesmerise,
but at the same time, wasn't as great a movie to me,
as Huo Yuanjia which i watched at home.
Maybe Huo Yuanjia was more realistic.
Its all about expectations you see..
I just like both movies because they pit style on style.
Chinese vs Japanese.
Like how often have we seen that?

Nothing like Bruce Lee speaking French..

Well, the portrayals are usually inaccurate.

Oh and about wad we did after that,
we watched fireworks
thn travelled to Changi Airport
and slacked there by playing card games.

Conclusion:-
Im so hyped about Ip Man and Wing Chun rite now
that i forgot this was supposed to be a New Year post.

Forgive me for being too much of a
martial arts movie enthusiast.
