Eduardo

I felt like crying when i watched
Birmingham vs Arsenal
yesterday.

Just moments into the game,
Martin Taylor tackled down Arsenal's Eduardo.
At first glance, the tackle looked as if it was
one that normally deserved a yellow card
but i didnt realize the severity of it
until i saw the expression of
Cesc Fabregas when he checked on Eduardo.

Fabregas was immediately
signaling for the medic and a stretcher,
and every1 else on the Arsenal
looked devastated and also in shock.

Eduardo was treated for 8 minutes
on the field before being carried out
and immediately sent to the hospital.

At this point of time,
I was still unclear of what happened.
But it was soon revealed that he suffered a broken leg.
There were no replays of the incident,
as Sky Sports found it too graphic to be shown.
Trust me, i've seen slow mo replays
of players' legs being broken in the midst
of a tackle, and it is absolutely
not for the faint hearted.

My prayers today go to Eduardo
for a clean and quick recovery.

I also got emotional at the end of the game
when Birmingham equalized at the last minute,
and denied Arsenal a win.

Gallas was crying and the other Arsenal
players were emotional too.
I dun think it was because Man Utd are catching up.
I am sure they wanted to win that game
for their teammate Eduardo.
And they couldnt.

This is the ugly side of "the beautiful game"
I realize that players of this game
are just one reckless tackle away
from a career ending
or maybe even life threatening injury.

They say a broken bone can be fixed
but i still care to disagree.

i think im blogging too much
about football in this blog.
