LDC 2007

well as i type this entry,
the Part Cs (Sec 3 NCC) are going through what seems
to be the most important camp in their NCC years.

Leadership Development Course.
its a yearly kind of camp
for Part C Cadets who are by now,
well on their way to becoming NCOs.

its kinda weird.
but i dont feel as if there was a 1 year gap
between my batch's course, and theirs.
I wont exaggerate by saying dat it felt as if it was only yesterday.
lets just keep things simple and say; time flies.

LDC, is only a 3 day 2 night camp,
compared to the MUCH longer Annual Camp in March.
(its just 1 day longer but what you do in AC is much more physically and mentally tiring compared to LDC)
But in LDC, you are always under pressure.
Your future appointment is at stake.
Your individual performance determines the future you will have in NCC.
Whether you will become one of the big guns, or simply not.

For some, this means everything.
And for sure, i see a bunch of such people in the current Part C.
I've been second in charge of them for the year.
And i dont have much time left.
I regret i have not put enough effort into shaping
this group of ppl into the versatile leaders
i visioned during my pre-NCO life.
What a pity.

But thinking again, the deciding factor is not me.
Neither is it the officers or the old boys.
Its them.

Who will rise up to the occasion?
Who will crumble in the face of adversity?
Who will put himself before others?
Who has the ability to solve problems on his feet?
Who has the commanding influence over the others?

only time will tell.
