Legacy of the Azzuri

And so it happened..

Italy the Azzuri, defeated France the Les Blues. By the smallest of all margin. A 1 penalty difference. Somehow, when Trezeguet was taking that penalty, i knew he was gonna miss. And dat miss was what cost the French, the ultimate prize. The World Cup.

For Italy, it was a great performance, defensively. Its such a pleasure to see Italian defenders like Cannavaro, Zambrotta and Gattuso taking on the French with such ease. The French were tight in defense too, with Thuram and Gallas. But when it goes to penalties, everything changes. France, obviously had no chance. They were missing 3 regular penalty takers. Zidane, sent off, and Viera and Henry, substituted out. You could see the Azzuri winning.

And as for Zinedine Zidane, i feel sorry for him. He thought he was going to end off his career with a fairy tale ending. Instead, it ended abruptly with a red card. He didnt even get to receive his silver medal. Many wonder, who Zidane really is. He smiles like an angel, helping his team go so far. Yet he reacts with such unproffesianalism. Maybe he deserved it.

For the man who won himself the Golden Ball Award, i wish him goodluck to his retirement and future life. Though i still think Fabio Cannavaro deserves the award better.
