Any team dat beats Chelsea is a team that i like
Though the community shield match is seen as a worthless match,
it has shown the teams in EPL one thing,
that Chelsea is beatable.
Afterall, a somesort of second team Liverpool
defeated
A full Chelsea team only without regular, Claude Makelele and Joe Cole.
Lets zoom in on the new players of both teams
and how they performed in the recent matches.
Chelsea bought Andriy Shevchenko, probably the best striker in the world, from AC Milan. Michael Ballack, one of the most renowned midfielders in Europe.
Shevchenko did well. I can imagine him scoring that much goals
with the likes of Lampard, Ballack, Cole and Drogba supporting him.
He scored the equalising goal for Chelsea just before half time and was ever so dangerous in the first half. However in the second half, the Liverpool defence did very well to quiten him down. In fact, i hardly ever saw him from half time onwards.
Ballack had to be sub out early in the game due to an injury. Should be a minor one. But thats not the main problem. The thing is, i cant see him and Lampard playing well together. Its not that they have a feud or something, but their style of play is TOO similar. And usually its not good to play 2 players with similar styles of play. Of course, this was also the concern when Chelsea bought Essien. But Essien is settling as a defensive midfielder now and faces no such problems with Lampard.
As for Liverpool, the main new faces are Craig Bellamy, Jermain Pennant and Mark Gonzalez, all of which, good but risky budget buys. (meaning they are cheap, but their performance rating are still question marks)
Bellamy has settled down well. I can see him playing the hybrid forward. One dat scores goals AND creates opportunities for his teammates to score goals. He set up Peter Crouch's winning goal perfectly. Jermaine Pennant was quiet throughout the match. Cant comment much there. But Mark Gonzalez is wad i call a GOOD VALUE BUY. BEWARE: THIS GUY IS FAST
Sooner or later He will earn himself the nickname Mark "Speedy" Gonzalez. Damnit. I think he is faster than Jose Antonio Reyes.
Things dont seem to be going too well in Chelsea. They lose 2 matches in a row. One against MLS All stars and one against Liverpool. But of course, wad matters to Jose Mourinho is the Championship itself.
As for Liverpool, things are going great. They won both Maccabi Haifa and Chelsea 2 - 1. They've won Chelsea in the FA Cup, Champions League, Community Shield,
NOW FOR THE PREMIERSHIP!
